The 7.62mm rounds are rifle ammunition for firearms appearing in the game. There are two main types available - NATO ones for Western firearms (see below) and WP (Warsaw Pact) - those are for Soviet/Russian guns and one Chinese submachinegun.

Each of those comes in AP (armor-piercing) and HP (hollow point) variety, which differ from each other with penetration. The AP rounds are good against armored targets (enemy soldiers wearing body armor), while the HP ones work better against unarmored targets, such as Bloodcats or The Hicks from the sector F10 (Jagged Alliance 2).

Tips and Tricks[]

  • Buying the ammo at Bobby Ray's Guns and Things in Jagged Alliance 2 isn't worth money, as the ammunition is easy to find on enemies.
  • Two 20-round NATO magazines or 30-round WP magazines can be held at smaller inventory slot, while four magazines fit a large inventory slot. Four magazines (two per smaller inventory slots) is sufficient for most combat situations, unless a merc is using a H&K 21.
  • The ammunition for Dragunov, SKS, and M-24 is stacked differently - those can be gathered up to three magazines per small inventory slot and six magazines per large inventory slot.
  • Any firearm can only be loaded only with either AP or HP rounds. The game doesn't permit mixing ammo types inside guns' chambers.
  • Guns with larger ammo capacity can be loaded from small-amout clips as long as the caliber is matching. For example, a FN-FAL can be loaded with four clips for M-24 and once unloaded, a 7.62mm 20-round magazine will be ejected.
